BENEDETTO POMA
MEET THE ARTIST
Benedetto Poma nasce a Catania nel 1968. Inizia a dipingere giovanissimo spinto dal suo precoce amore per la pittura. Frequenta l’Istituto Statale d’Arte di Catania e si laurea in Architettura presso l’Università degli Studi di Reggio Calabria nel 1999. Tra il 1981 e il 2016 partecipa a importanti mostre nazionali ed internazionali. Nel 1999 viene ricevuto in Vaticano per consegnare a Papa Giovanni Paolo II l’icona sacra della Madonna dell’Aiuto.

Benedict Poma was born 1968 in the beautiful coastal city of Catania which lies at the foot of Mt. Etna, Sicily. Poma started painting in his youth before entering grammar school and before any formal training. Driven by his growing love for painting, he attended the State Institute of Art in Catania. To expand his passion for art he also sought and was conferred a degree in Architecture from the University of Reggio Calabria in 1999. That same year Poma was received at the Vatican by Pope John Paul II to deliver his painting of the sacred icon of Madonna dell’aiuto where it is permanently displayed.

The study of the history of art, the recovery of memory and traditions, the continuous search for motivations and principles that inspired the great masterpieces, the curiosity to get to discover the secrets of their design and execution techniques, the desire to succeed in fully understand the mystery of all the knowledge that has allowed us to live in time the testimonial values of a true work of art, are certainly the central clues that Benedict Poma intended to coordinate in the orientation of the journey of his creative adventure.
